SHIZUOKA (TR) – Shizuoka Prefectural Police are searching for a woman who shoplifted 300 packs of cigarettes from a convenience store in Hamamatsu City early Wednesday, reports TV Asahi (Apr. 1).
Around midnight, the woman posed as a customer and shoplifted a cardboard box with 30 cases of cigarettes — each containing 10 packs — from near the register at the Family Mart outlet in Chuo Ward.
The suspect then got into a vehicle. The female store owner tried to retrieve the merchandise, but the suspected suddenly accelerated the vehicle, causing the owner to fall and sustain minor leg injuries.
The suspect is described as being in her 20s, with long brown hair. She was wearing a gray hoodie and black trousers at the time of the incident.
Police are investigating the incident as a robbery resulting in injury.
