TOKYO (TR) – Kanagawa Prefectural Police have arrested a 40-year-old administrative officer at the Prime Minister’s Office for sexually assaulting two middle school girls in Yokohama City earlier this year.
In April of this year, Yukihiro Koizumi, 40, is suspected of sexually assaulting the two girls, one a first-year student and the second a second-year student, in a car in Yokohama City’s Seya Ward while knowing that they were under 16 years old.
He also allegedly paid each of them 4,000 yen in cash, reports Jiji Press (Dec. 10).
Police arrested Koizumi on Monday on suspicion of non-consensual intercourse and violating the Anti-Child Prostitution and Pornography Law. The administrative officer admitted to the charges, police said.
According to the investigation so far, one of the two victims met Koizumi through another student about one year ago and had been in contact with him via a messaging app. She explained that she had met Koizumi several other times.
When the girl ran away from home and was taken into custody, she reported the incident during an interview.
Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi said, “We deeply regret that an employee has been arrested, and will take strict measures in light of the progress of the investigation.”
