GIFU (TR) – Gifu Prefectural Police have arrested a man for allegedly forging currency that he used to pay a teenage prostitute.
Kansuke Kanbe, 28, was arrested for allegedly using a home printer to copy the front and back of a 10,000-yen bill to make forged versions. He then used to pay a 17-year-old high school girl he met online at a hotel in Ogaki City on March 29 as payment for enjo kosai, or compensated dating where men pay typically younger girls for companionship or sexual favors, the Asahi Shimbun reports (October 26).
Kanbe, who has been charged with currency forgery, admits to the allegations.
A friend of the teenage girl contacted police after the girl tried but was unable to use a forged bill at a pharmacy in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, police said.
According to police, two forged bills with matching serial numbers were found in Nagoya, and another in Gifu Prefecture.
The girl lied about her age to Kanbe, police said.
