FUKUOKA (TR) — A massive, mysterious flying object likened to a traditional “feathered robe” brought a section of the Nishi-Nippon Railroad (Nishitetsu) to a standstill for approximately four hours on Wednesday, reports state.
The bizarre incident occurred as cherry blossom viewers watched a long, blue object fluttering erratically through the sky before it descended upon the tracks.
“At first it was just floating around. Even from a distance, it looked quite long, like a feathered robe. I was shocked,” a bewildered witness said of the sprawling object.
The giant anomaly eventually snagged on an overhead power line, completely crippling the local public transport network. Nishitetsu was forced to suspend train operations along the affected route for roughly four hours while crews scrambled to safely remove the hazard.
Following the removal of the obstruction, railway officials revealed the true identity of the airborne menace.
“Visually, it was a piece of vinyl measuring about 20 to 30 meters in length,” a Nishitetsu representative stated. “We do not know where it blew in from.”
The origin of the massive plastic sheet remains unknown, and it has not yet been determined who is responsible for the object that paralyzed the railway infrastructure.
