Miyazaki man, 75, remains missing over a week after foraging for bamboo shoots

MIYAZAKI (TR) – Miyazaki Prefectural Police are continuing to search for a 75-year-old man from Miyazaki City who remains missing over a week after disappearing during a family trip to gather bamboo shoots, reports TBS News (Apr. 9).

According to local authorities, the man visited a mountainous area in neighboring Nichinan City with his family on April 2. He ventured out into the mountains to forage for bamboo shoots but failed to return, prompting a desperate search.

Despite extensive efforts by police and local rescue teams over the past week, searchers have yet to uncover a single clue regarding his whereabouts.

With no trace of the man found and more than a week having passed since his disappearance, authorities are now actively appealing to the public for any information that could lead to his discovery.
