Mie newspaper delivery man accused of fatally stabbing sister-in-law

MIE (TR) – Police in Yokkaichi City have arrested a newspaper delivery man on suspicion of murder after his sister-in-law was brutally stabbed to death earlier this month, reports TBS News (May 26).

Toshihiro Tanaka, 57, is accused of killing 53-year-old part-time worker Naomi Tanaka at around 9:00 a.m. on May 16 at her residence in the Kawashima Shinmachi area.

According to police, the suspect used a knife to stab the victim in the chest and stomach more than 10 times. The cause of death was hemorrhagic shock.

Following the attack, Toshihiro turned the blade on himself. He was officially taken into police custody after receiving hospital treatment for his self-inflicted injuries.

Upon his arrest on suspicion of murder on Monday, the suspect admitted to the allegations. “I stabbed her many times with a knife I had at the house,” he was quoted as saying.

Moments before the bloodshed, the victim’s husband reportedly witnessed his wife and brother in a heated verbal altercation.

Investigators are currently looking into the exact nature of the personal dispute that triggered the violent killing.
