Kanagawa woman, two sons found dead in sealed car in suspected murder-suicide

KANAGAWA (TR) – Police in Sagamihara City have launched an investigation into a suspected murder-suicide after a woman and her two young sons were discovered dead inside a sealed car, reports TV Asahi (June 11).

At approximately 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, emergency services received a distress call from the woman’s husband. “I came home and found my wife and children dead in the car,” he told police.

Responding officers arrived at the residence in Midori Ward to find the victims inside a vehicle parked in the home’s garage. The bodies of the woman, who is in her 50s, and her two sons, aged 12 and 10, were found together in the back seat.

According to investigators, the two boys were found slumped against their mother, who was seated between them.

A shichirin charcoal grill containing briquettes was discovered inside the vehicle, and the windows had been taped shut from the inside to seal the cabin.

Police are currently treating the incident as a possible murder-suicide and are investigating the circumstances that led to the deaths.
