Kanagawa teacher arrested over indecent acts with teen girl he met on SNS

TOKYO (TR) — Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 29-year-old public high school teacher in Kanagawa Prefecture on suspicion of committing indecent acts with a teenage girl he met via social media, reports Nippon News Network (Mar. 2).

Last December, Keisuke Imaeda, a teacher at a high school in Kanagawa Prefecture, is accused of engaging in obscene acts with a 17-year-old girl at his residence in Miyamae Ward, Kawasaki City.

Imaeda has been charged with violating the child prostitution and pornography prohibition law, as well as the prefectural youth protection ordinance.

During police questioning, the suspect admitted to the acts and the filming but offered an ambiguous defense regarding his knowledge of the victim’s age. “I recognized she was a high school student, but I didn’t know she was 17,” he reportedly told investigators.

Prior to the incident, Imaeda met the victim online and instructed her to “bring your school uniform” before inviting her to his home. Once there, he allegedly committed the acts and recorded them on his smartphone.

After the encounter, the girl realized she did not have enough money for the train fare to return home and sought help at a nearby police box (koban). After an officer found her situation suspicious, subsequent questioning led to the discovery of the incident.

Following the arrest, the Kanagawa Prefectural Board of Education issued a statement: “It is extremely regrettable that a teacher has been arrested. We will take strict action once the facts are confirmed in accordance with the police investigation”.
