GUNMA (TR) – Police in Takasaki City have arrested a 37-year-old unemployed man for the theft of women’s underwear after a search of his home turned up a stash of nearly 100 garments, reports Nippon News Network (May 7).
Hideaki Matsumoto is accused of swiping a piece of women’s underwear that had been hung out to dry inside the garage of a local residence in March.
During police questioning, Matsumoto admitted to the allegations. “I have an interest in women’s underwear,” he told investigators.
He also confessed to a prolonged string of thefts, stating, “I’ve been stealing panties and bras hung outside homes in the city since around the summer of last year.”

Following his confession, officers discovered a collection of about 90 pieces of women’s undergarments at his residence.
Matsumoto was already familiar to local law enforcement — he was caught red-handed and arrested last month for stealing underwear from the exact same home.
Police are continuing to investigate his connection to the broader string of unsolved lingerie thefts across the city.
