FUKUOKA — A 44-year-old junior high school teacher was arrested on suspicion of groping a woman on a crowded morning commuter train in Fukuoka Prefecture on Monday.
It was upon the arrest of Naoki Seno, a full-time lecturer at a middle school in Fukuoka City, that he discovered his victim was an undercover police officer, reports TV Asahi (Mar. 31).
Upon his arrest for violating the prefectural nuisance prevention ordinance, he denied the allegations, telling investigators, “I have no recollection of pressing my crotch against the woman.”
According to the Railway Police Force, the incident took place at around 8:25 a.m. on Monday aboard a Nishitetsu Tenjin Omuta Line train traveling between Ohashi and Yakuin stations.
The 33-year-old female officer, dressed in plain clothes and assigned to an anti-groping patrol, was standing in the packed carriage when she felt a sudden pressure from behind.
For approximately seven minutes, Seno allegedly maintained an unnatural posture with bent knees to continuously press his lower body against the officer’s buttocks.
When the train arrived at Yakuin Station and the suspect disembarked, the officer followed him onto the platform, called out to him and placed him under arrest on the spot.
Police are continuing to investigate the matter.
