FUKUI (TR) – A 57-year-old professor at Fukui University in custody for three sexual assault cases involving a female acquaintance has been arrested in a fourth case, reports Fuji News Network (Apr. 6).
In the latest case, the unnamed professor, from the university’s Research Institute of Nuclear Engineering, is alleged to have sexually assaulted the woman, aged in her 30s, at a lodging facility outside the prefecture between late February and mid-March of last year.
Upon his arrest on suspicion of non-consensual sexual intercourse on Monday, the suspect, who resides in Tsuruga City, refused to confirm or deny the allegations. He said, “I will remain silent regarding this incident.”
The professor had already been indicted on February 16 and March 11 for sexually assaulting the same woman in February and March last year.
In those cases, he alleged called the woman to his room at a different accommodation to commit sexual assault and indecent acts.
In the fourth case, he was accused in an incident involving the same woman in January of last year. In that case, he was accused of indecent acts without consent on March 17.
Police are continuing their investigation into the case, including the possibility of further related crimes.
