Crime ring coordinator arrested over ¥10 million Tachikawa apartment heist

TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a man who allegedly directed a crime syndicate operation that netted roughly 10 million yen in cash from a Tachikawa City apartment last year.

Makoto Senoo is accused of conspiring with accomplices to break into the residence. According to investigators, Senoo functioned as a coordinator for a tokuryu ring, which involves members anonymously giving and receiving orders via smartphone apps.

Upon his arrest, Senoo admitted to the allegations, police said.

Police say Senoo received detailed intelligence from the ring’s mastermind, including the apartment’s floor plan and the specific location of the stashed cash. He then allegedly ordered his underlings to purchase crowbars and hammers to execute the heist.

The five individuals who physically carried out the break-in have already been taken into custody in connection with the case.
