Co-manager of Shinjuku massage parlor arrested over illegal sex services netting ¥1.84 billion

TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 36-year-old man for allegedly offering illegal sexual services at a men’s massage parlor in Shinjuku Ward, an operation that reportedly raked in over 1.8 billion yen, reports TBS News (July 9).

Ryo Sawada, a co-manager of the “men’s esthe” parlor known as Kami no Esthe (God’s Esthe), is accused of violating the Law Regulating Adult Entertainment Businesses.

According to investigators, Sawada allegedly provided sexual services to customers inside private rooms in February of this year. The establishment was operating in a zone where sex businesses are strictly prohibited.

Upon his arrest, Sawada denied the allegations during police questioning.

The arrest follows the earlier apprehension of two other male co-managers of Kami no Esthe, who have already been indicted for operating an illegal sex business in a restricted area.

Police revealed that the parlor was a highly lucrative operation, generating approximately 1.84 billion yen in illegal sales over a nine-month period between May 2023 and January of this year.

Authorities are now thoroughly investigating the organization’s money trail to uncover the full extent of the illicit operation.
