HYOGO (TR) – What appears to be a child’s skull was found along the JR tracks in Itami City on Saturday. Police are investigating the case on suspicion of abandoning a corpse.
That afternoon, an employee at JR Itami Station reported to police that “there was something that looked like bones” along the railway, reports the Kobe Shimbun (Feb. 23).
According to police, several objects that appear to be human bones, including a skull, were found on the railway tracks south of the station, which is off-limits to the public.
Judging from the size of the skull, it is believed to be that of a child, police said. However, such details as to the age of the person have not been released.
The results of an autopsy will be used to identify the body, police said.
A JR employee working at another station discovered the remains on the premises on their way to work and reported it to the employee at Itami Station.
