TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police are searching for a pair of men in the beating of a third man in broad daylight on Wednesday in the Kabukicho red-light district of Shinjuku Ward, reports TV Asahi (Mar. 29).
At around 11:00 a.m. police were alerted to the district via a report about a man collapsed and bleeding. Police arriving at the scene found the man lying on a street with bone fractures to his face. His injuries are not considered life-threatening, police said.
According to eyewitnesses, the two men pummeled the victim as he was sprawled on the street as pedestrians passed by. The incident took place after a quarrel between the three persons. The two men then fled the scene.
The two men are wanted by police on suspicion of assault resulting in injury.
