TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested an employee at a construction company based in Nagoya in an embezzlement of more than 30 million yen, reports TV Asahi (Mar. 4).

On about 200 occasions over a two-year period beginning in November of 2011, Masanori Kikuchi, a 47-year-old employee in the company’s Tokyo office, allegedly withdrew 34 million yen from an account belonging to the company.

The funds, withdrawn from the account in amounts between 100,000 and 600,000 yen, were supposed to be used by Kikuchi to pay clients.

“I used the embezzled money for gambling,” the suspect is quoted by police in admitting to the allegations.
