TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a male temporary worker for allegedly picking up a teenage prostitute using the smartphone application Line, reports the TV Asahi (Jan. 27).

In July of last year, Keiichi Yamamoto, 33, is alleged to have paid 20,000 yen to the girl, then 16 years of age, for a sexual encounter at a hotel in Shibuya Ward.

Yamamoto admits to the allegations. “I was unable to control my sexual desire,” the suspect is quoted by police.

The girl, a second-year high school student, had run away from home. She became acquainted with the suspect through a bulletin board contained on the Line application in which he offered to pay “pocket money.”

Yamaoto became a person of interest for police after police questioned her over another bulletin board posting in which she sought “a place to stay in the Yamanote Line area.”
