TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police a questioning an employee at a used-can lot in Adachi Ward following the discovery of a male corpse inside a vehicle, reports Nippon News Network (Sept. 9).
At around 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, police received a call from a person who said that a male acquaintance had been out of contact for two weeks. “It seems like a male relative killed him,” the caller said.
After looking into the matter, police entered the dealership, located in the Shikahama area, and found a man’s body inside a van parked in a lot. The body was wrapped inside a blue sheet.
The body is believed to be that of a male resident of Saitama Prefecture, aged in his 40s. Police suspect that he had been dead for more than a week.
A male employee at the dealership, also aged in his 40s, has admitted to knowing about the existence of the body. Police are now considering applying charges of abandoning a corpse to the employee.
Update: Police arrested the employee, Norifumi Kosuge, 42, on charges of abandoning a corpse, according to the Yomiuri Shimbun (Sept. 9). The suspect told police that he got into a fight with the man over vacation time and beat him over the head on August 23.
