TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police on Friday announced the bust of a baccarat casino in Edogawa Ward for permitting illegal gambling, reports TV Asahi (Jan. 31).

On Tuesday night, officers raided Cream, located in front of JR Koiwa Station, and took manager Mizuho Yoshino, 39, and four employees into custody.

Yoshino has reportedly admitted to the allegations. “From having worked at a casino previously knew it was a profitable business,” the suspect is quoted by police, according to TBS News (Jan. 31). “So I thought I would start my own business.”

Since opening in November, the casino has collected 15 million yen in revenue.

In an effort to evade a crackdown, Cream utilized the signboard of a “snack” hostess club, which previously occupied the space and cameras installed at the entrance to record the faces of customers entering and departing.

Two Chinese customers inside the premises at the time of the raid were also arrested. The customers told TV Asahi that the gaming provided an easy way to earn income and an enjoyable experience.
