TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police on Thursday busted a hostess club in the Akasaka area of Minato Ward for licensing violations, reports TBS News (Aug. 7).

At 10:00 p.m., police raided bar Antz and arrested Asuna Tosa, the 35-year-old manager, for employing three hostesses to entertain customers, a service classified under the adult-entertainment law, while being licensed as a drinking establishment.

Tosa has admitted to the allegations. “Customers want to be entertained by hostesses,” the suspect is quoted by police. “I did it for the money.”

On multiple occasions last month, police warned the manager about her business practices but operations continued as before.

According to police, sales at Antz have exceeded 300 million yen since 2009.
