TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have launched an investigation following the discovery of the bodies of a 73-year-old man and his daughter inside the residence they shared in Hachioji City, reports TV Asahi (Feb. 1).

At approximately 9:00 a.m. on Monday, a male colleague of Toshio Motegi found him hanging by his neck from a towel tied to a steel pipe on the property of the residence, located in the Owadamachi area. The body of his daughter, Kanako, 35, was also discovered collapsed nearby next to another towel.

Both persons were confirmed dead shortly after arrival at a nearby hospital in a state of cardiopulmonary arrest.

According to police, Kanako’s body had marks consistent with a hanging. A will was not discovered at the scene.

After Toshio Motegi did not arrive at his office, the colleague visited his home and made the grisly discovery.
