Noriko Sakai’s ex-husband nabbed for possession of ‘dangerous drugs’

TOKYO (TR) – The former husband of celebrity Noriko Sakai has been arrested yet again — this time for the possession of so-called “dangerous drugs,” reports TV Asahi (Nov. 19).

On Friday, officers from the Tokyo Metropolitan Police arrested Yuichi Takaso, 48, after a search of an apartment in Shibuya Ward revealed 0.59 grams of banned substances. The search was conducted as a part of an investigation into a separate case.

Takaso, who has been charged with violating the Pharmaceutical Affairs Law, admits to the allegations.

The varying chemicals comprising dangerous drugs, which usually provide a hallucinatory effect, are often able to exploit legal loopholes.

Since April of 2014, the health ministry has been adding the names of prohibited compounds in order to restrict their use.

In August of 2009, Takaso, then the husband of Sakai, was arrested for possession of kakuseizai, or stimulant drugs. She subsequently went missing for six days before being arrested herself on drug charges.

Sakai was later sentenced to 18 months in prison, suspended for three years. Takaso as well received a suspended prison term.

In 2012, Takaso was arrested for having 11.7 milliliters of liquefied narcotic drugs delivered to the house of his parents in Tokyo’s Minato Ward. He was subsequently not prosecuted in the case.
