IBARAKI (TR) – Ibaraki Prefectural Police have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of a male corpse at a metal scrap yard in the town of Shirosato, reports Nippon News Network (Feb. 1).
At approximately 8:00 a.m. on Monday, police received a call about a corpse with a bloodied face and head wrapped in adhesive tape that had been found at the yard. Police arriving at the scene confirmed the person dead.
A 53-year-old female Thai national living near the yard found the body, which she told police is that of her husband. The man, aged in his 70s, operates a demolition business in the prefecture.
The woman added that she was last with her husband on Sunday, according to the Asahi Shimbun (Feb. 1). “Since he is not a person who wakes early, I went out looking for him,” she is quoted by police.
Police are now seeking to confirm the identity of the body.
