TOKYO (TR) – Officers from the Chuo Police Station in Sapporo, Hokkaido last week arrested a 35-year-old male for using social networking site Twitter to solicit customers for a teenage prostitute, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Aug. 1).
Takuya Mimasa was taken into custody on August 1 for violating the Anti-Prostitution Law after he allegedly recruited 12 customers for an 18-year-old girl by posting messages on Twitter between May 14 and 25. The girl provided carried out the sexual services inside the public toilets of train stations, offices, and public parks at a rate of 3,000 yen per session.
According to the Mainichi Shimbun (Aug. 2), the suspect and the teen met on a message board in the middle of April. “I am in debt,” she wrote. “Please help.”
“I did it to help her,” Mimasa is quoted by police in admitting to the allegations.
The partnership came to light after it was discovered that the 18-year-old provided sexual services on May 25 inside the toilet of a commercial trade office in Sapporo.
