GUNMA (TR) – Gunma Prefectural Police are investigating what is believed to have been a suicide after a farmer was found dead in a vehicle in Annaka City, reports the Sankei Shimbun (May 28).
At approximately 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, the body of the man, 55, was found bleeding from a wound to the chest inside the front passenger seat of car stopped along a municipal road.
The man was clutching a hunting gun. The vehicle was not locked but there were no traces of a struggle.
Officers from the Annaka Police Station suspect that the farmer took his life by turning the weapon on himself.
Police confirmed that the man had a permit for the gun.
The body was found by a person employed near the site of the discovery. The farmer’s family later reported the death to police.
