FUKUOKA (TR) – Fukuoka Prefectural Police have arrested a head patrol officer for allegedly attempting to rip the clothing from a teenage girl in Kurume City, reports NHK (July 5).
On April 4 at approximately 9:30 p.m., Jun Kitajima, 25, who is posted to the Kurume Police Station, came up from behind the girl, 17, as she walked on a road in the Shirayamamachi area and attempted to remove her pants and underwear.
Kitajima, who has been charged with attempted indecent assault, admits to the allegations.
The matter came to light after Kitajima was questioned for allegedly using his smartphone to film up the skirt of a woman in a parking lot in Kurume on June 28. “I’ve done this kind of thing many times,” the officer said in confessing to the attempted indecent assault.
“Since we are working to deter sex crimes, it is with a deep apology that I must face that a police officer has committed such a crime,” said Yasunori Kondo, the chief inspector at the headquarters of the Fukuoka Prefectural Police, at a news conference on July 4. “After clarifying the facts, we will seek to strictly deal with this matter.”
