Corpses of man, woman found in submerged car in Kobe pond

HYOGO (TR) – Hyogo Prefectural Police undergoing a search came across a car with two bodies inside in a pond along a road in Kobe City on Saturday.

At just after 4:00 p.m., officers found the car submerged upside down in a pond along a prefectural road in Nishi Ward.

According to police and other sources, the bodies are of a man in his 70s and a woman in her 60s.

Prior to the discovery, police received a call asking them to find someone. While searching, officers found a fallen fence along the road and the car submerged in the pond.

Based on the condition of the bodies, it is possible that more than a day had passed since the car plunged into the water, police said.

The scene of the discovery is about 2 kilometers northeast of Seishin-Chuo Station. It is surrounded by residential areas and golf courses.

Police are rushing to confirm the identities of the two people and confirm the cause of what is being deemed an accident.
