CHIBA (TR) – Chiba Prefectural Police have arrested a fourth person affiliated with a graduate school of medicine in the alleged gang rape of a female acquaintance earlier this year, reports TV Asahi (Dec. 6).

Yuji Fujisaka, a 30-year-old medical intern at Chiba University Graduate School of Medicine, allegedly participated in the gang rape of the woman, aged in her 20s, inside a toilet of a restaurant in Chuo Ward in Chiba City that began on the evening of September 20.

Police had previously charged Kensuke Yamada, 22, Masaya Yoshimoto, 23, and Mineto Masuda, 23, all of whom are fifth-year students at the same university, in the case.

The woman was highly intoxicated at the time of the incident. After the alleged crime, Masuda took the victim back to his residence and raped her again.

Fujisaka faces charges of quasi-indecent assault while the other suspects have been accused of rape resulting in injury, according to the Sankei Shimbun (Dec. 5).

When the first three suspects were apprehended last month, officers did not release their names. According to TBS News (Dec. 5), police claim that there was no pressure to conceal their identities.

An investigative source told the network that the reason for the two-week delay in releasing the names of the suspects was due to “trouble in the investigation” and “consideration given to the relationship between law enforcement and the victim.”
