Chiba cops arrest man after 2 women stabbed

CHIBA (TR) – Chiba Prefectural Police have arrested a 21-year-old man after two young women were stabbed on Tuesday night in different cities in the prefecture, reports TBS News (Aug. 24).

At around 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, a man riding a bicycle stabbed a 14-year-old girl in the side of her abdomen as she walked on a road near JR Chiba Station in Chiba City. The girl, a third-year middle school student, sustained serious injuries.

About 90 minutes later, a university student, 19, was stabbed in the lower back in front of Shin-Keisei Electric Railway’s Maebara Station in Funabashi City, located about 13 kilometers from the initial incident. Her injuries are not considered serious.

After examining security camera footage near Maebara Station, police apprehended Shun Ono, 21, on charges of attempted murder. The suspect denies the allegations. “I don’t know anything about it,” the suspect is quoted by police. “I didn’t do it.”

In both cases, the perpetrator was wearing a blue shirt. Police are now investigating Ono’s possible involvement in the case in Chiba City.
