CHIBA (TR) – Chiba Prefectural Police have arrested three male medical students over the alleged gang rape of a female acquaintance earlier this year, reports Nippon News Network (Nov. 22).

On September 20, three fifth-year students from the Chiba University Graduate School of Medicine, all aged in their 20s, allegedly gang-raped the woman inside a toilet of a restaurant in Chuo Ward in Chiba City.

The woman, also aged in her 20s, was highly intoxicated at the time. The crime was committed under the guise of the suspects helping the woman in her drunken state.

After the incident, one of the suspects took the victim back to his residence and allegedly raped her again.

The matter came to light after the woman consulted with police.

“With this incident being truly regrettable, I apologize from the bottom of my heart,” a representative of the university is quoted.
