TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police on Tuesday announced the bust of a maid cafe in the Akihabara area of Chiyoda Ward for employing teenage girls to provide services classified as adult entertainment, reports TBS News (Feb. 17).
Police charged Kinuko Ishikawa and her husband, Haruo, both of whom are 65-year-old managers of Moe Kon Cafe, with violating the Law Regulating Adult Entertainment Businesses by employing female minors to provide male customers with “love slaps” to the face (priced at 1,000 yen each) and participate in board games (3,000 yen).
Haruo Ishikawa has reportedly denied the allegations while his wife has admitted involvement.
The violations surfaced in December, when a 17-year-old employee from the shop was found loitering in Akihabara. She indicated to police that she had consumed between 15 and 20 glasses of alcohol and participated in the alleged crimes.
In January, police warned Moe Kon Cafe about its business practice but the alleged violations continued.
The cafe collects approximately two million yen in revenue each month, according to the Yomiuri Shimbun (Feb. 17).
