AICHI (TR) – Aichi Prefectural Police have arrested a 55-year-old man after the bloodied bodies of his wife and teenage daughter were discovered inside their apartment in Anjo City, reports Nippon News Network (Apr. 13).
Koichi Nakamura was taken into custody early Monday morning after he placed an emergency call at approximately 12:20 a.m.
“I killed my wife and daughter,” the suspect flatly confessed to the dispatcher.
Officers rushing to the family’s residence in the Fukamacho district found two females — confirmed to be Nakamura’s wife, who is in her 50s, and his daughter, in her mid-teens — bleeding heavily from multiple kitchen knife wounds.
Both victims were later pronounced dead, police said.
Upon his arrest on suspicion of murder, Nakamura admitted to the allegations.
The suspect was also found with self-inflicted slash wounds to his wrists and was transported to a local hospital under police guard. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Investigative sources revealed that Nakamura had been suffering from a chronic medical condition. During police questioning, he allegedly stated he had grown “pessimistic about the future” due to his deteriorating health.
Authorities are treating the incident as a botched murder-suicide and are continuing to probe the exact sequence of events that triggered the killings.
