AKITA (TR) – It was revealed on Wednesday that three government workers in Akita City, including a Ground Self-Defense Force (GSDF) sergeant and a firefighter, were among the customers of a 14-year-old prostitute, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Mar. 12).
Between January and June of last year, a 20-year-old man recruited eight customers for the girl by posting messages on deai-kei “encounter” matchmaking sites.
On January 17, the Akita District Court sentenced the man to 22 months in prison and fined him one million yen for violations related to anti-prostitution and child welfare laws.
According to the judicial decision, the GSDF sergeant engaged in illicit acts with the girl inside a car parked in a lot in Akita on May 4 of last year.
“Such a deed is an act that disgraces our personnel,” said a representative of the GSDF, which suspended the sergeant for 10 days.
Two months before, a high-school math teacher also met the girl for sex at a parking lot. “I didn’t know she was under 18 years of age,” said the teacher.
A representative of the Akita Board of Education told the Sankei that the police had not been in contact and any action would have to wait until all of the facts of the case had been clarified.
On January 21 of last year, an assistant fire sergeant of the Akita City Fire Department paid for sex with the girl inside a car at a park in the Goanzan Izumi area.
In November, he was charged with violating child prostitution laws. The fireman also claimed that he thought the girl was an adult. He was not prosecuted.
