TOYAMA (TR) – Toyama Prefectural Police are investigating a shooting at an office of an affiliate gang of the Yamaguchi-gumi that was hit with an attempted arson attack last month, reports Nippon News Network (Mar. 14).
At approximately 3:00 a.m. on Monday, police received a report about several shots fired at the office of the Takada-gumi, which is located in the Taya area.
Officers arriving at the scene found three bullet holes in a second-floor wall of the office.
The incident is the second to take place in less than a month. On February 29, Molotov cocktails were thrown at the office. There were no reports of damage resulting from the attack.
In September, the Kobe Yamaguchi-gumi formed as a rival to the Yamaguchi-gumi. Two gangs affiliated with the Takada-gumi subsequently joined the Kobe Yamaguchi-gumi. Police suspect that both incidents are connected to this move.
As of the end of last year, there were 10 organized crime groups with 310 member in Toyama Prefecture.
