TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metrpolitan Police on Monday arrested two suspects, including a former organized crime member, on drug charges inside an apartment in Shinjuku Ward, reports Nippon News Network (Sept. 22).

Officers took Sumio Kondo, a 52-year-old former member of the Sumiyoshi-kai, and Yoshimi Watabe, 52, into custody for possession of 260 grams of stimulant drugs and 16 grams of marijuana with the intent to sell.

According to police, the suspects mailed the drugs to customers along with a job magazine in order to evade detection.

Kondo has reportedly denied the allegations while Watabe has admitted partial involvement. “There is no doubt that I possessed stimulants and marijuana,” Watabe is quoted by police. “But the sale (of drugs) is incorrect.”
