KANAGAWA (TR) – A connected source has revealed that Jiro Kiyota, the former top boss of the Inagawa-kai criminal syndicate, has died at a hospital in Kawasaki City, reports TBS News (Apr. 22).
Kiyota, whose real name is Shin Byung-kyu, was undergoing treatment for an unspecified illness. He was 84 years old.
Kiyota became the fifth head of the Inagawa-kai in 2010. Nine years later, he handed the position over to his successor, Kazuo Uchibori, who is the gang’s sixth boss.
The Inagawa-kai is active in Tokyo and 16 prefectures across the nation. It has approximately 1,700 members.
