Two yakuza shot in Okayama; gunman wanted

OKAYAMA (TR) – Okayama Prefectural Police have launched an attempted murder investigation following the shooting of two organized crime members outside a hostess club in Tamano City early Saturday morning, reports the Sankei Shimbun (May 23).

At just after midnight, the two men, a 34-year-old member of the Kumamoto-gumi and a 40-year-old member of Fujiken Kogyo, were shot in the abdomen after a dispute erupted inside a “snack” club located in a multi-tenant building. The gunman then fled the scene.

Both victims were rushed to a local hospital. Their injuries are considered serious.

About 30 minutes prior to the incident, the several customers arrived at the club. The shooting occurred after a number of customers stepped outside the club to continue the argument.

Police found bullets at the scene of the crime, which is about 200 meters from JR Uno Station, and are seeking the whereabouts of the gunman, according to Nippon News Network (May 23).

Both gangs are affiliate groups of the Yamaguchi-gumi.
