TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 45-year-old man for allegedly engaging in sex with a high school girl at a hotel in the capital, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Apr. 30).
I March of last year, Naoki Kanzaki, allegedly gave 25,000 yen in cash to the high school girl, then 15, and engaging in lewd acts with her at the hotel, located in Shinjuku Ward.
Police allege that Kanzaki knew the girl was under 16 years old, which is the age of consent.
Kanzaki lives in Tachikawa City. Upon his arrest on suspicion of non-consensual sexual intercourse, the suspect denied the charges. He said, “It was over a year ago, so I don’t remember.”
According to police, Kanzaki is believed to have met the high school girl through social media. The suspect responded to a post of hers whereby she said she was looking for a relationship based on papakatsu, or compensated dating. They then made a date to meet her in Shinjuku and headed to a hotel.
