TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 20-year-old male firefighter for molesting a high school girl on a bus last year, reports NHK (Feb. 7).
Last October, Atsuhisa Narada, who is a firefighter at the Tokyo Fire Department’s Kitatama West Fire Station in Higashiyamato City, allegedly molested the girl on the bus as it traveled from Tachikawa City to Akishima City.
He then chased her after she got off the bus and continued to commit indecent acts, including groping her, police said.
During questioning, Narada admitted to the charges. “I carried out molestations in other cases as well,” he said.
While on the bus, Narada was seated on the aisle. In carrying out the crime, the suspect groped the victim as she sat next to the window. After continue to grope her outside the bus, he fled.
The suspect was not acquainted with the victim. He surfaced as a person of interest in the case after an examination of security camera footage.
Tanaka Tomiya, chief of Kitatama West Fire Station, commented, “We will confirm the details and take strict action.”
