TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a former employee of a love hotel in Musashino City over the robbery of nearly 300,000 yen last month, reports TV Asahi (Mar. 21).

At around 5:40 a.m. on February 13, Mitsuo Kimura, 62, allegedly used the knife to threaten a female clerk, 75, at the front desk of Hotel New York, located near JR Kichijoji Station. After taking about 280,000 yen from a register and the woman, the suspect fled the scene.

The woman, who was unharmed, later reported the incident to a nearby police box.

Kimura, who is an acquaintance of the woman, became a person of interest after an examination of security camera footage. The suspect was apprehended at a park in Sumida Ward, where he was living. He admits to charges of robbery.
