Sometimes, begins Shukan Jitsuwa (Aug. 12), there are places you’d just rather not be.
On July 19, that was certainly the case for a 37-year-old employee at a life insurance firm from Kanagawa Prefecture. He was arrested by police from the city of Seya for violating prostitution and pornography statutes by hiring an underage prostitute. But that’s not all: The apprehension occurred two days after he returned from his honeymoon and in the “loving embrace” of his new wife.
“He’s a director of sales and has 15 people under him at the Odawara branch of AXA Life Insurance,” explains a newspaper reporter who covers the police beat in Kanagawa. “He’s suspected of paying 25,000 yen on April 7 for a romp in an Ebina City love hotel with a 17-year-old girl he met on a matchmaking site.”
The suspect was married on July 7 and departed on his honeymoon to Hawaii thereafter. The couple returned to their new home in Odawara 10 days later.
“His wife’s pride is probably shattered,” continues the newspaper source. “She was there waiting for him but he had to satisfy his desire. Likely she’s done with him.”
Shukan Jitsuwa posits one question: His address is Odawara, the incident took place in Ebina, so why was he arrested by cops from Seya, which is within the jurisdiction of Yokohama?
“Cops in Seya were monitoring matchmaking sites for online crimes,” says the same source of online networks referred to as deai-kei sites. “That’s how they found him. On one particular thread started by the girl, he wrote, ‘No mouth, no hands, just sex. Available in Ebina, Machida and Hon Atsugi.’ She responded, ‘I have a uniform. If you are interested please let me know.’ Her writing was obviously designed to stimulate Lolita-type guys.”
The accused has been picking up girls online since 2005. “He was frank with the arresting officers: ‘I like young and underage girls,'” the beat writer explains. “The Seya cops were a bit hesitant to arrest him with his wife there so they took him outside where she couldn’t see.
“Five years is a pretty long string of good luck,” the source concludes. “This time it ran out, and now his social credibility is shot.” (K.N.)
