ISHIKAWA (TR) – Ishikawa Prefectural Police have determined that the woman killed in a stabbing incident at a love hotel in Hakusan City earlier this week is a 22-year-old from Osaka, reports TBS News (Nov. 17).

On Wednesday afternoon, officers from the Hakusan Police Station working off a tip from a hotel staff member found Maki Kido, a resident of Osaka’s Higashiyodogawa Ward, collapsed with her body riddled with stab wounds in a room of the hotel. She was later confirmed dead at a hospital in Kanazawa City.

Police subsequently arrested Nobuhiro Niwa, a 30-year-old resident of Toyama City, on charges of attempted murder. A knife was also found at the scene. “I thought about killing her so I stabbed her many times,” the suspect was quoted by police in admitting to the allegations.

The suspect also told police that he met Kido via a matchmaking internet site.

Police are now attempting to determine a motive for the crime.
