SAGA (TR) – Complaints from citizens have flooded into the offices of Takeo City, Saga Prefecture after revelations that a male employee dispatched to earthquake-devastated Kumamoto Prefecture visited a love hotel with an official vehicle, reports the Sankei Shimbun (May 20).

On May 6 at approximately 6:30 p.m., a vehicle marked as belonging to the government of Takeo and driven by the employee, aged in his 30s, was seen in the parking lot of a love hotel in Higashi Ward of Kumamoto City.

The employee, whose visit to Kumamoto was for relief purposes and extended between May 2 and 9, also requested two hours of services from a prostitute employed at a “delivery health” business.

On May 10, a person who saw the vehicle telephoned the Takeo City offices to lodge a complaint, saying that the use of a such a car was “an indiscretion.”

During an investigation conducted by the city, the employee admitted to the accusations, saying he did it “for stress relief,” according to TBS News (May 21).

The city is now considering whether to punish the employee.

“Through this deed, we have dampened our relief efforts,” said Takeo mayor Tadashi Komatsu. “and I would like to apologize to everyone in the affected areas. We will strive to deal with this matter harshly.”
