16-year-old girls referred to prosecutors for drinking straight out of tea pitcher at Sukiya

OSAKA (TR) – Two 16-year-old girls have been referred to prosecutors for allegedly drinking tea straight from a pitcher at an outlet of beef bowl chain Sukiya in Osaka City earlier this year, reports NHK (May 15).

On February 1, the girls allegedly touched their mouths to the shared pitcher as they drink tea together in the outlet in Chuo Ward.

Police allege that the fact that a staff member was then forced to wash the pitcher the outlet’s business was disrupted.

The branch filed a complaint with the Minami Police Station after a video of them drinking tea was spread on social media. They were referred to prosecutors on suspicion of forcible obstruction of business on Tuesday.

Police have not revealed whether the girls admit to the allegations.

Sukiya commented, “We cannot tolerate any behavior that causes harm to customers who are enjoying a safe and enjoyable meal. We will continue to take strict action against such nuisance behavior.”
