Shoplifting suspects in Nagoya sought after throwing MEGA Don Quijote clerk from car hood

AICHI (TR) – Police in Nagoya are searching for a man and a woman after a fleeing driver carried a discount store employee on the hood of a car before throwing him to the street, reports TV Asahi (June 8).

The incident unfolded shortly after 9:00 p.m. on June 7 at a MEGA Don Quijote store. According to police, a security alarm was triggered as the male and female customers exited the building.

When a male store employee in his 50s called out to the pair outside, they ignored him and got into a vehicle in the parking lot. The clerk stood in front of the car in an attempt to block their escape, but the male driver accelerated, forcing the employee to cling to the hood.

The suspects did not stop, driving the vehicle out of the parking lot and onto the public road. After carrying the clerk for approximately 150 meters, they violently swerved to shake him off the hood onto the street before fleeing the scene.

The employee sustained injuries to his lower back and arms.

Police are now hunting for the two suspects, described as being in their 30s or 40s and both having dyed brown hair. Investigators are treating the hit-and-run as an attempted murder case.
