SAITAMA (TR) – Saitama Prefectural Police have arrested a 39-year-old former juku (cram school) teacher for allegedly using a smartphone to secretly film a naked middle school boy at a public bathhouse in Tokorozawa City, reports Nippon News Network (Oct. 23).
Reo Hayakawa, a resident of Omiya Ward in Saitama City, is accused of recording a video of the boy in the facility’s changing room on June 21. He was arrested on October 22 on suspicion of violating the Law Banning the Taking of Sexually Explicit Photographs.
Upon his arrest, Hayakawa admitted to the allegations. “I secretly filmed him to satisfy my sexual desires,” he told investigators.
Hayakawa initially emerged as a suspect while police were investigating a separate but similar voyeurism case in January of this year.
The scope of the former teacher’s crimes may be extensive. Following the confiscation of his smartphone, police discovered a staggering collection of over 1,000 similar illicit videos. Authorities are now investigating the possibility that Hayakawa had been sharing the footage with others.
