TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 25-year-old man, known in Shinjuku Ward’s Kabukicho district by the street name “Uni,” for allegedly filming an obscene video of a 16-year-old high school girl last year, reports Nippon News Network (Oct. 8).
Hikaru Sato is accused of recording the underage girl with his smartphone at a Kabukicho hotel last November.
According to investigative sources, footage confiscated from Sato’s phone captured him holding about six pills in his hand and pressuring the girl to consume them. In the recording, Sato can be heard encouraging an overdose, saying, “Cough medicine isn’t bad for your body. Here, let’s go. Drink it.”

February sweep
The investigation was triggered during a mass police sweep in February 2026 targeting the “Toyoko” area, a notorious gathering spot for runaway youth in Kabukicho. Officers approached Sato and the girl as they were walking out of the local hotel district.
When questioned about their relationship, Sato offered a bizarre defense to the officers. “I have her parents’ official approval,” he claimed. “We take baths together, but we don’t have sex.”
Finding the explanation suspicious, investigators checked his smartphone and discovered the obscene footage of the girl concealed within a hidden folder, leading to his eventual arrest.
“My morals became lax”
During police questioning, Sato admitted to the allegations. “I filmed it while we were overdosing at the hotel,” he told investigators, acknowledging that he knew the girl was 16.
Attempting to justify his actions, Sato added, “I knew what I was doing was prohibited by law, but hanging around Kabukicho for so long caused my morals and sense of crisis management to become lax.”
A deeper forensic search of Sato’s smartphone revealed a trove of approximately 100 obscene videos featuring young women. Police suspect that 21 of those videos involve girls under the age of 18.
Tokyo police are continuing its investigation, suspecting Sato of repeatedly committing similar offenses.
