GIFU (TR) – Police in Toki City earlier this month arrested a 17-year-old boy for alleged drunk and unlicensed driving after a passenger fell from the roof of the moving vehicle and suffered severe facial injuries, reports TV Asahi (Sep. 29).
According to police, the incident occurred on September 16 in the Izumicho Kujiri area. The unemployed teen was allegedly behind the wheel of a passenger car while intoxicated and without a driver’s license. A total of five individuals were in the vehicle at the time.
During the drive, a 20-year-old male passenger in the back seat reportedly climbed onto the roof of the moving car. He subsequently tumbled from the vehicle, sustaining serious injuries, including broken facial bones.
Officers also arrested a second 17-year-old boy, who was in the front passenger seat, on suspicion of riding in a vehicle while knowing the driver was unlicensed.
The youth was also arrested on suspicion of obstructing a police officer in the execution of their duties, after allegedly pushing one officer in the chest with both hands when law enforcement arrived at the scene.
Police have not disclosed whether the two teenage suspects have admitted to the allegations.
Investigators are currently questioning the group to determine the relationship between the five occupants and the exact circumstances leading up to the reckless stunt.
