OSAKA (TR) – An elementary school principal in Osaka City has been referred to prosecutors after allegedly using a hidden camera disguised as a car key to secretly film a female sex worker, reports Mainichi Broadcasting System (Aug. 31).
The 59-year-old principal of an Osaka municipal elementary school had his case sent to the Osaka District Public Prosecutors Office on Monday on suspicion of illicitly filming sexual images, according to the city government.
The incident occurred on August 11 at a hotel in Osaka. While receiving sexual services from the female employee, the principal allegedly used a miniature, car-key-shaped camera to take tosatsu (voyeur) footage of her in a sexual state without her consent.
Although the principal was not formally arrested, police conducted voluntary questioning before forwarding his case to prosecutors. He has been absent from work since the incident came to light. During interviews with city officials, he admitted to the allegations, stating, “I am very sorry.”
The new academic term began last week at the principal’s school. The city stated it is working closely with the school administration to prevent any disruption to students and plans to hold a briefing for parents in the near future to explain the scandal and outline future steps.
“It is truly regrettable and we deeply apologize for this situation, which has severely damaged the trust of students, parents, and citizens in our city’s school education,” the city said in a released statement. “We will take strict disciplinary action once the facts are confirmed, thoroughly enforce compliance, and strive to restore the public’s trust.”
