KANAGAWA (TR) – Kanagawa Prefectural Police launched a murder investigation after the body of a 17-year-old high school girl was discovered on a riverbed in Sagamihara City early on Thursday, reports TV Asahi (June 11).
According to the fire department, an emergency call was placed shortly after 2:00 a.m., with the caller reporting that an “underage female had collapsed” and was in a “state of cardiopulmonary arrest.”
Investigative sources revealed the body was located along the banks of the Sagami River in Minami Ward. Based on the condition of the body at the scene, police strongly suspect she was the victim of foul play.
Investigators are currently focusing on a teenage male acquaintance who they believe possesses crucial knowledge of the circumstances surrounding her death, treating the case as a potential homicide.
